Galway triathlon club host talks by renowned sports nutritionist
Health and nutrition are key to succeeding, and reaching goals in any
sport. Fueling the body correctly is paramount to ensuring your machine is
well oiled and ready to take a pounding in training, racing, recovery, and
life.
Optimum nutrition before, during, and after each training session and race
will ensure your body is ready for what you want it to provide
The power and importance of proper nutrition is too often underestimated,
and as a result Galway Triathlon Club have sourced one of the top sports
nutritionists from the UK to help athletes to achieve their goals.
Barry Murray works with elite athletes and individuals looking to improve
their health and performance. His science, sports and nutrition background
has given him a huge insight into the world of healthy living and
well-being. Murray has found that as a result of misinformation and
misdirection there is a lot of confusion concerning diet and nutrition,
which is having a detrimental effect on general health.
He takes a modern approach to nutrition and steers away from the
traditional advice and recommendations.
Murray has worked with many elite athletes from a range of different sports
including David Gillick, 400m Irish Champion, Tour de France cyclist Steve
Cummings, professional cycling teams such as Team Raleigh, and premiership footballer clubs such as Aston Villa FC.
In a series of two talks presented by Murray, Galway Triathlon Club invite
all athletes and clubs to the Salthill Hotel on Friday March 11 to
discover the key principles of sports nutrition from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
The second talk will be in-depth, and specific to endurance training,
racing, and recovery on Saturday March 12, from 9am to 11am. The Saturday
morning talk will explore how you can make your own energy drinks, recovery
drinks, and bars. The talks are open to all athletes of all levels and
abilities.
The cost of will be 5 euro.
