Padraig Marrey a Postman working in Westport post office and a member of the Western Lakes CC is on his bike again, as part of the Bike week festivities (June 13-20th Padraig is aiming to beat the cycling record for Galway to Limerick.
4 years ago Padraig broke the Mizen to Fair head record for cycling, completing the 372 miles in 17hrs 48mins, this time round Padraig is looking to beat the time of 2hrs and 34mins for the Galway to Limerick route set by Kieran Keane of Dublin in 2005, if he is to beat it, he will need the assistance of a strong tail wind as the average speed will have to be up near 25mph.
The Bid will take place on Monday the 14th of June starting at the GPO Galway at 7pm and finishing at the GPO Limerick approximately 2 and half hours later.
