La Marmotte - Alpine Cyclo-Sportive in France

July 2nd to 6th, 2009

The programme of the day (Saturday 4th) is a 174 kilometres ride with 5000 metres of climbing:

• depart in Bourg d'Oisans: 717 m

• climb of le Col du Glandon: 1918 m

• descent of Glandon and ride through the Maurienne Valley to St Michel de Maurienne

• climb of le Col du Télégraphe: 1570 m

• down to Valloire and climb of le Col du Galibier: 2642 m

• descent over le Col du Lautaret down to Bourg d'Oisans and climb of L'Alpe d'Huez: 1880 m

Sportactive have secured a number of guaranteed entries in this mass peleton of 8000 riders. With our growing reputation of quality and efficiency all you will have to do is turn up and ride.

Package programme:

• A 5 day trip from Thursday 2nd to Monday 6th July, 2009. Return flights from the UK or Ireland

• Thursday 2nd July 2009: flight to Geneva or Grenoble airport (to be confirmed); transfer with private coach to our Hotel in Alpe d'Huez.

• Accommodation: we shall stay in a hotel in l'Alpe d'Huez close to the finish of the Sportive. Accommodation is B&B, twin rooms on a basis of 2 sharing. A well adapted breakfast will be available from 5:00 in the morning, on Saturday 4th. (included in package)

• Saturday 4th : on the day of La Marmotte you "free wheel" down to the departure in Bourg d'Oisans (16 km). Departure times will be between 7:00 and 8:00 depending on the start numbers (details to be confirmed as not yet available).

• During the Sportive, you will manage your own ride (feeding stations available; details will be provided). A back-up car for support will be available to take you back to the Hotel in case of necessity; you will have a telephone number to call.

• At the arrival in l'Alpe d'Huez, a warm meal is served to the riders: starter, pasta, cheese, dessert, drink.

• Our hotel will be situated very close to the finish: a good incentive to ride up l'Alpe d'Huez to the finish line.

• Sunday is a recovery day for you to enjoy after this big effort

• On Monday a private coach takes us back to Geneva airport (or Grenoble or Lyon - to be confirmed) for the flight home.

The package includes

- return flight from the UK or Ireland - bus transfer for you and your bike to the Hotel and return - 4 days B&B in Hotel, base 2 sharing room; very comfortable large rooms, on suite - registration to the Sportive - assistance with car in case of abandon to bring you back to the Hotel

 Not included are

- single supplement (is not available) - meals - bike air transport - private medical insurance - travel insurance

If 3 persons share one room, the price per person is € 859 / £699

Administrative details

Only 24 places available for this tour: please register now to secure your place. Your registration will only be valid after receipt of:

• The booking form with your full details as requested on the form

• a deposit of 500 € (including register fee 49 €). 10 € will be given back to you at the finish of the Sportive as you give back the timer.

• Please send a cheque, made payable to SportActive

• balance of € 399 to be paid up to the 9th May, 2009. You will not receive a reminder!

In January 2009, you will have to send in the following documents:

• registration form: to downloaded from the SportActive website. The form being not all in English and a little "overloaded" an example to copy from will be available as well on the web site. Do not forget to sign it!! It is really for the signature that the form is needed!

• copy of your valid cycling licence (no international licence requested, national licence accepted)

• OR, a medical, if you do not have a cycling licence.
