Lough Mask cycle challenge

Ever feel like doing a deed for others while improving your fitness as well?

Well, now is your chance. On Saturday, May 10th, in Co. Mayo, there will be an event that will do just that. Get out your old bike and dust it down, your challenge is to cycle around scenic Lough Mask, starting and finishing in Ballinrobe.

“This trip is a total of 38 miles, an achievable aim for many people. There is plenty of time for most people to get fit enough to do this challenge,” said Thomas Kelly of Western Lakes Cycling Club, the organisers.

“People around the South Mayo North Galway area have for years cycled this route but under no real banner. Last year we started the Lough Mask Challenge to encourage people of all ages to have a go at completing the route

“The event is in aid of the Niall Mellon Trust, which funds the construction of badly-needed housing in South Africa .”

Registration is on Saturday, May 10th, from 9-10am at the Western Lakes Cycling Centre with the event to roll off at 10.15am
