Evaluation of your season

Now that your season over its time to take stock of what happened during the year, this is best done while the season is fresh in your head, the longer you leave it the hazier your memory of how you performed will come.

Remember the saying!! definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result each time”

Prioritise the areas that you need to work on, look at all areas not just physical, make a list and tick them off as you go, remember to revisit the problem areas later to see if improvement has occurred.

Looking at the components of fitness, which ones would you expect to lose first after your break from the racing season? Surprisingly it’s not the area’s you might think that loose performance.

Strength, Endurance (stamina), Speed, flexibility skill (bike) are all the physical areas that have been trained during the racing season, when we stop training we loose strength and race speed first, looking at these areas we tend to avoid training them during the winter months why?

Because tradition has thought us that winter training should be about miles, miles and more miles

Train strength, explosive power and fast pedalling and see your performance and result soar in 2008.

Use the templates attached and write out actions points that you want to improve for next year.
